All construction site personnel require a Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) Green Labourer Card. The Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment course is the first of 3 steps to achieving your CSCS Green Card.
This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to manage on-site applications of risk assessments and method statements, accident prevention and understand what establishes a safe working environment. Once the training is complete, you will take an online exam before applying for your Green Labourer Card.

The Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment is the first of 3 steps to achieving your CSCS Green Card. After completing the course, you will need to take this online exam and upon successfully passing the exam, you can then apply for your CSCS Green Labourer Card.
This course provides the essential foundations for staying safe and implementing best practices when working on a construction site.
There are four stages to the training.
All training components and the Green Card application can be made through the CPS Training Centre.
This course is for existing construction workers and anyone aged 16+ who wish to work within the construction or civil engineering industry in an entry-level non-skilled role.
A good command of the English language is required. Completion of Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment is mandatory before being eligible to apply for a CSCS Green Card.

Completing the training and gaining a CSCS Green Labourer Card will improve confidence and skillset to enable learners to climb the construction career ladder.
New skills will improve employability and industry career opportunities, potentially enhancing salary grades and boosting positive mental wellbeing.
Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment is an eLearning self-study course. The CITB Health, Safety and Environment test is also online, but learners must attend a face-to-face verification session. Choose preferred dates and venues on application.
Once a Green Card has been issued, it will be valid for five years.
You will need to apply for a new CSCS Green Card at the end of the five years. It is currently not possible to renew an existing card.
The combined CSCS Green Labourer Card Training is evaluated by two online assessments, a face-to-face verification and an online application for the Green Card.
